EXODUS - Stone Clan Preview

Frecklepaw wakes, buried beneath dust and stone, to witness what remains...

(Some plot details!)

For generations, five clans of cats lived and thrived within the valley basin; Strict followers of their Warrior Code, the clans of Glade, Cliff, Sun, Stream and Leaf endured much to retain their homeland... Until, all at once, a fate beyond the power of the stars they prayed upon came to pass.

What began as a strange fog overtaking the valley quickly morphed into spreading paranoia, death and disease. Prey and streams became afflicted with the fog's tainted influence, turning any cat desperate enough to consume them into mindless killers... Invaders rallied together beneath the call of a wandering conqueror, devastating the weakened clans in combat. One by one, the five clans were broken- forced to either flee, or die.

In the coming moons, the fog has begun to dissipate, and the invaders have swiftly fallen to infighting. A valley of peace has become stained by violence and death- with the few survivors of the clans barely scraping by, hunted down by the conqueror in vengeance.

Abandoned by her clan and assumed dead in a rockslide, Frecklepaw is forced to journey forward- to escape the only home she has known. Accompanied by an enigmatic blind wanderer named Calvin, her journey faces countless perils, both violent and strange, in a valley transformed by the colliding fates of far flung cats.

PREVIEW VERSION

This is a VERY early release of the concept, so please pardon any bugs! Any and all suggestions will be very welcome! I plan to expand this page with each little release, though the next playable bit will be more generalized (this one is mostly to show off a bit of the game's theming- and Stone Clan has proved a very good motivator to work on this through some hard times!).

• Arrow Keys: Movement
• Shift (Held): Sprint
• Up + Z: Jump up a ledge
• Down + Z: Jump down a ledge
• Up/Down: Climb claw-marked terrain
• WASD: Combo's in combat

STONE CLAN

This preview is focused around a side quest a couple hours into EXODUS, which is a massive in-joke reference to Stone Clan. This fan clan is made, maintained and ruled over by Moonkitti, an artist who produces numerous shorts, talking and analysis videos about the Warrior Cats series; Any and all cat designs seen in the first fight past Zippy onward were created by her and are used by various voice actors, my silly sprites just do their best approximation!
